MBA Outdoor Training on an antique Sailing Boat

This outdoor training challenged top executives to study themselves as leaders and team members in action. The whole learning experience centred around a five day sailing cruise:

• The team consisted of the MBA student group, an ex­perienced sailing crew and IBR faculty members. The team's success in making this cruise an exciting experience depended on every member. As posi­tions rotated, everyone had the opportu­nity to lead and serve.
• IBR faculty members worked interactively together with all students on this sailing cruise. This in­cluded workshop input on leadership, effective com­munication and motivation as well as individual and group coaching on own behaviour in leading and serving positions on board.

Being interdependent with the crew, all team members experienced dynamics one might normally find in the organisations micro- or macro con­text. By giving and receiving feedback the sailing team applied HR knowhow on the spot.
