IT in the digital economy:

When I started reading the course materials I got an impression that there was nothing new about IT which I did not know. However, when I finished studying the course and began working on my assignment I realized how helpful all the course materials were for creating a clear methodology in elaborating an appropriate competitive strategy and identifying supporting information technologies.

I hope that all the findings resulted out of this assignment will receive a green light for implementation in the company.

Tkachenko Victor,
Slaviansky Alliance Investment Holding Company

While working at this assignment, I acquired the knowledge of how IT can boost the company's position in the relevance to the Porter's five forces model decreasing the bargaining power of suppliers of raw materials, customers and boost competitive position among industry peers.

In my view, the digital economy is in full swing now and the companies should adapt its operations when it is economically justifiable to secure sustainable operation and decreasing influence from technology, market and social pressures.

The course on the IT in the digital economy was interesting and useful for understanding on how the competitive advantage and leading edge can be maintained due to utilisation of IT tools and mainly by the right selection of the SIS in the company's operations, which is perfectly demonstrated by IS's example

IT- managerial and decision support:

The course of IT managerial and decision support was very useful for me as for a top manager, this course was very tightly connected to my current business life and helps me to clear my knowledge of this subject and make some changes in my work.

While studying theoretical and practical aspects of the course, I realized that knowledge is one of the most important things for a company. Learning the courses of IT managerial and decision support, I got a clear understanding how to improve the knowledge management system of the company and how to apply different kinds of decision support systems. From these courses I also realized that not only important for a company to obtain proper knowledge, but it is also very important to manage and share it.

Summarizing all above mentioned, I would like to conclude that understanding of knowledge management issue and skill of utilizing decision support system that I obtained from this course is very important for my business live.

IT and organisational applications:

I have changed my own approach to IT planning. Previously I tried only to explain to IT department what IT applications my departments need. Now I plan to participate and even organize meetings for discussion and creation IT strategy. It was important for me to understand differences among stages of development the company (according to the IT Growth Model) and ways how it is possible to get to a maturity level. Now I am not afraid to start justifying the stage of the development of the Ukrainian engineering company "LDS", which I am employed in. Our General Manager has supported this initiative. We decided to create IT strategy and especially pay attention to the alignment of IT and the business strategies.

The knowledge of this course can help me to communicate with IT managers concerning their projects and plans. It will be great for the budget control. I appreciate this course and the preparation of this assignment gave me the practical experience regarding the IT planning and strategy. This knowledge I plan to share with my colleagues and even with the IT managers. It will be good for my image as the top manager of the company.

Due to this course I have made a significant step in my understanding of all business processes, especially IT issues. This knowledge will help me to manage an activity of a company in the future.

I am so happy, that I have decided to start learning IBR International MBA program. Now I am building a good foundation of my future development and career growth.
